For Parents
At St. Monica School, we are blessed to have a generous, supportive, engaged school parent community. They help make our school all the amazing things it is – a successful partnership with staff, a safe place for our children to learn, a thriving faith-based school community in every sense of the word “community.”
Please take a moment to read about the experiences of one of our school families. Cathleen and Joe Wildt, parents of three SMS alum, are so typical of the incredible school parents who comprise our school community. If you'd like to share your experiences with other SMS parents, please contact us -- we'd love to hear from you!
Our family has been blessed to be a part of the St. Monica School community for 12 years…and what an abundant blessing it has been!
Our children have received an outstanding education from a faculty and staff that is committed to every student. They have received an academic preparation second to none! All of our children have now graduated to area Catholic high schools. They were very well-prepared for the rigors of secondary education and they, themselves, comment on how St. Monica School (SMS) gave them an academic advantage.
Beyond that, and in our opinion, more importantly, they were nurtured and encouraged in so many other ways. The SMS community helped them grow in our faith. Religion is a vital part of the school’s curriculum and is woven into all aspects of the school. Daily prayer, weekly Mass, service projects& mission experiences are all integral to learning at SMS. Children at SMS learn the morals and values that are key to being a good person. These values and behaviors are not just “taught,” they are lived by the teachers and the other role models SMS children are with each day. Children truly learn by example.
In addition, our children have had many opportunities not always available at parochial schools. They have been on the school’s basketball, volleyball& track teams. All three of our children were members of the Student Council and our oldest son participated in Forensics. They have been members of Scouts, Altar Servers and had numerous opportunities to participate in music and performing arts. Wow! And they weren’t even been able to participate in all of the other extra-curricular activities offered at SMS!
The SMS community has been a rich blessing to us, as well. We have forged deep friendships with many other school parents and families. We have been able to share our family’s life with loving and fun friends who share our values and support us in raising our children. We have celebrated together (often!) and have supported one another in times of sadness. Our faith has been deepened and our lives enriched by the people that make up this “school family.”
There are not many school communities like that of St. Monica. It is truly very special. How blessed we were to become a part of it. We hope it will be a blessing in your life, as well.
Most sincerely,
Joe and Cathleen Wildt
