What is SCRIP?
Scrip is a term that means “substitute money.” When you purchase Scrip, you are purchasing gift certificates and prepaid cards that are used just like cash.  You can use scrip to purchase everyday expenses like food, clothing, and other essentials.  You can even pay your Kohl’s department store bill with scrip cards!!  With every purchase you earn revenue for St. Monica Home & School and your family.

How does SCRIP generate revenues for St. Monica Home & School?
St. Monica Home & School purchases scrip from grocery stores, department stores, and other retailers.  Because the scrip is purchased with cash up front, the participating retailers offer a substantial discount.  We purchase the scrip and resell the certificates to you for face value.  The difference between what we pay and face value is our revenue.

How does SCRIP generate revenue for my family?
60% of the profit of your total purchases will be set aside for you as a credit toward next year’s tuition and 40% will go to Home & School. For example, Pick’n Save offers a discount of 3%.  If you purchased Pick ’n Save scrip for one year ($500.00/month for 12 months = $6000.00 multiplied by 3%), the profit will be $180.00.  60% of that $180.00 (or, $108.00) will be given back to you in tuition credit for the following school year.  Consider the impact if you purchased Kohl’s to pay your monthly bill and a few gas cards, too!

How do I order SCRIP?
Every Friday by 3:30 pm, complete an official order form in person or on line.  The forms are available on the St. Monica School website (www.st-monicaschool.org) or next to the official SCRIP drop off box in the school office.  There is also a drop box located outside the K4 classroom on the bulletin board.  Attach your check with the order.  Place the order in the scrip box in the school office.

When will I receive my SCRIP order?
Orders will be available for distribution on the following Friday morning.  You have two delivery options:
  • Your mail carrier can bring the scrip home after school.  A signed waiver of claim is required if you choose this option.
  • You may arrange a pick up time with the scrip coordinator.
Immediately check your order for accuracy. Call one of the coordinators right away if your child did not bring it home.

IMPORTANT CHANGES FROM PREVIOUS YEARS:
Per Archdiocese guidelines and insurance requirements, we must keep all of the Scrip cards and related software on site.  Therefore, no orders will be accepted at the homes of the scrip coordinators.

In order to maintain proper accounting, all scrip orders must be completed on an official order form.  (Scraps of paper and sticky notes become lost very easily.) Dedicated volunteers enter each person’s order into the scrip software program every week. They manually fill each order when the cards are received. Please help them be more efficient and accurate by following these guidelines.

What if I want a SCRIP card not listed on the order form?
Check the Great Lakes Scrip web site (glscrip.com) to see if it is available.  Simply write the retailer name, denomination and amount you need on the order form.

How much money did SCRIP make last year?
Scrip generated over $18,000.00 in profit.  More than $11,000.00 was given to families in tuition credits!
** We have added an incentive this year: Once your scrip family profit contribution to Home & School reaches $250.00, your family will receive 100% of all profit from the scrip you purchase.

"I only attended St. Monica School for three years, but I learned a lot from my experience. I’ve been prepared for high school with the help of teachers I’ve come to know and love. They’ve all given me something to carry on to high school"
